Building on the Model X success, the Model E’s Warner radial engine had a Townend ring fitted to reduce drag. Wheel pants and other streamlining enhancements foretold the Granville’s quest for speed.  Chief engineer Robert L. Hall went on to develop Grumman aircraft for the U.S. in World War 2.  Top speed 189 mph, 110 hp Warner Scarab engine.  Built at Springfield (MA) Airport.
