The Gee Bee Model X  Sportster was the Granville Brothers first low wing sport aircraft and the beginning of the Gee Bee air racing lineage.  This aircraft was  entered to compete in the 1930 All American Air Derby which awarded prizes for aircraft reliability and efficiency.   Pilot Lowell R. Bayles finished in second place generating much needed cash flow for the new company.  Top speed 146 mph, 110 hp Cirrus engine.  Built at Springfield Airport in Massachusetts, USA.
