Comet Curtiss Robin – 48in wingspan

$9.00

NOTE: There is some photographic distortion in the preview at left – the plan is perfect!

Wow, this is a biggie!  One of the original Jumbo free flight scale models, the plan for this Comet 48in Robin states “one of the most successful flying scale models ever designed” – and it’s true.

With a simple and light construction, this is an excellent intermediate-level first Jumbo/Giant free flight flying scale model.  There’s nothing quite like the slow, graceful flight of these very large rubber powered scale models.

There are few  modifications that you’ll likely want to make in building this model.  A one-piece horizontal stabilizer set in a slot in the aft fuselage that allows some incidence adjustment is a good idea as is some wire reinforcement in the landing gear struts.  Install a 1/4in dia alum tube rear motor peg in 1/8 x 5/8 balsa cemented behind the fuselage upright just aft of the cabin.  Detachable wing panels would aid model transport too, but this is optional.      Fit a removable noseblock/noseplug assembly and a modern 12 in plastic prop with 4 loops of 3/16 Tan rubber 25 inches long to start flight trimming.  Try this one and experience the thrill of silent and majestic flight with a large stick and tissue free flight model!

Qualifies to fly in FAC Jumbo/Giant Scale events.
